What are some nice wireless network cards are you guys using campatible with Ubuntu?

Asked by MichaelBrown

I am looking for a network card that will work plug and play. I dont know how to use ndiswrapper.I have a 2Wire Wireless DSL Modem if that matters. And I plan on upgrading my Ubuntu 7.10 to 8.04 if that will help the situation that I am in. Can any one recommend a wireless network card that just works out of the box? I have been looking in to this card found at http://www.usr.com/support/product-template.asp?prod=5417 and they say it works with Linux. That page will send you to http://ndiswrapper.sourceforge.net/ for help installing it. I typed in USR5417 in the search box and nothing came up. I am wondering if I buy this card if I am going to have a hard time making it compatible with Ubuntu? Also I have been on https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WifiDocs/WirelessCardsSupported#head-751ff8f98030df97347576e45ed468055b1e3fe3 trying to look for hardware compatible with Linux but none of the models I have researched like the USR5417 show up. So I was just wondering what you guys are using for a wireless connection and how did you guys set it up.

I am using a Zonet ZEW 2501 USB wireless adapter that I bought for $19.
Worked first time, never had a problem.

Hey Michael
How did you go with that card and 8.04?

I have just installed Hardy and found out that my current D-Link card (DWL-520+) is not supported.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Cheers

lenseboy,

Your existing card works if you have WEP wireless.
They are currently working on WPA
