file not found in Ubuntu 8.04 Update Manager

Asked by malcolm turner

Update Manager produces "404 file not found" for the following security updates:

openssl-blacklist
ssl-cert
libglib2.0-0
sudo

The full error message for one of these files is as follows:

W: Failed to fetch http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/main/o/openssl-blacklist/openssl-blacklist_0.1-0ubuntu0.8.04.2_all.deb
  404 Not Found

Anything to do at my end for this problem, or just wait for a fix ?

Think that could be a mirroring issue.
Try another repository through System, Administration, Software Sources

Actually looking at
http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/main/o/openssl-blacklist/

will show that a newer file is sitting there
openssl-blacklist_0.1-0ubuntu0.8.04.4_all.deb

So maybe you need to reload your sources in Update Manager?
Or maybe try
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

Yep that's fine thanks. I changed from Luxembourg Server to United States Server, and the update finished correctly. I couldn't switch back afterwards, because Luxembourg is not listed as a server location !! I'm linked to Belgium Server now, that should work OK.

Many thanks from the Grand Duchy of Lux.
