thousands separator applied twice?

when entering for example 123456789 it displays 123,456,789 which is correct. but when pressing enter or = it displays 12,3,4,56,,789. this leads me to believe that the add_thousands_separators() or whatever code is applied twice somewhere

after a bit of googling I found this page

Which states that newer version of gcalctool fixes it..
