Hello Skooter,
what filesystem does the usb stick use ? If it is ntfs sometimes if there are errors on ntfs it becomes unmountable.
Greetings
Uwe

Another question: Could you please check what files/directories you can see in /media when unplugging all external devices ? Could be there is a directory with the same name as the usb stick ?
Does this only happen with this special flash drive or with any flash drive you try to mount ? Do you have the possibility to check with an external usb harddisk or any other flash drive ?

Greetings
Uwe

hello,
this result for your usb drive:
"Disk /dev/sdb: 2047 MB, 2047678976 bytes
63 heads, 62 sectors/track, 1023 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 3906 * 512 = 1999872 bytes
Disk identifier: 0xffffffff

Disk /dev/sdb doesn't contain a valid partition table"

have you use this usb drive before?
if you used this usb drive before, it's look like your usb drive has been infected by viruses.
if this is your first time to use this usb drive, just format it with "partition editor"(System--->Administration--->Partition Editor)
search for your usb device, "/dev/sdb/" and format it with "fat32" or as you want.(Dont make mistake here, very critical.Or you will wipe all your system!)

hello,
formatting the device will causing "ALL YOUR DATA IN THAT DEVICE LOST "

when "/dev/sdb/" have been selected ( look at upper right GParted windows )
click on the partition device to highlight it,and now you can select partition type by going to "Partition---->Format to--->"

hope this help...
