Ubuntu Live and restart

I want to save my ubuntu live preferences when i restarting ubuntu.Means; i am downloading update etc. but it offers me restart ubuntu but when i restart it become default loading.But i remember knoppix have an option its saving to harddrive or any usb flash its properties etc and then i can show its the folder and files so its loading with my last desktop and other properties.Can i do in ubuntu some like this.

You can't save the ubuntu livecd to my knowledge, it's not really meant to use in 'real' world as an OS, not in the same manner as Knoppix.

İ know i can't because i tried so any possible action :D.But anyway i want to ask somebody has maybe done before.Thanks for helping.
