Hi,

You should be able to find applications for Ubuntu that do all the things you do in windows.

For playing DVD follow the instructions here: https://help.ubuntu.com/8.04/musicvideophotos/C/video.html#video-dvd . The software can't be installed by default due to some legal issues.

As for you printer which type is it? What happens when you try System -> Administration->Printing from the menus at the top left of the screen.

What are the other services you have a problem with.

Hello

Firstly since DVD is a restricted format please refer:

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/RestrictedFormats/PlayingDVDs

Which is the printer you are using?

Regards

Bhavani Shankar.

You're going to find you may have to find alternatives for some programs, and the Linux (Ubuntu) versions for others. I'm a total newbie with Ubuntu. Never used a Linux system at all. I've dual booted my computer so if I absolutely need to use my old programs, I can go back to them - until I find a good substitute.
