You can install grub to the master hard disk and have Windows on that and Ubuntu on the slave one. In fact, if you want to be able to select which operating system you want to start at boot time, Grub should be installed on the first (i.e., master) disk, so that it starts for every reboot.

I am not sure if this solves your question, though. If you really want to install Grub on the second disk, maybe the expert mode gives you a possibility for that.

On alternate CD you can boot in expert mode, if you quit the graphical installer (press Esc) and type "expert". However, this is really expert mode :-).

By the way, I am not sure that you can really setup Grub to another hard disk with that, it is only an assumption.

Or you could just unplug your master... Install Ubuntu and grub on the drive you want to be slave. Then when you're don plug the master drive back in and use your BIOS to choose which drive you want to boot off each time your computer starts or edit your boot.ini file in Windows and point it to your Ubuntu installation on your slave drive.

Can you help with this problem?
