ds9 software for fits image analysis is not working properly. The 'region' tab in ds9 is not working.

With Ubuntu 16.04, the saods9 is not working properly.
The 'region' tag in ds9 software to define region in fits image, is not working.

As a workaround, maybe you can fix it by uninstalling the Ubuntu package saods9 (version 7.4) and installing the following beta package (version 7.5b4) instead:

http://ds9.si.edu/download/ubuntu16/ds9.ubuntu16.7.5b4.tar.gz

which I found here:

http://ds9.si.edu/site/Beta.html

Thank you for the information. This beta version of Ubuntu is stable than the earlier one, which was installed in my computer.
Still the 'region' is not working, I am unable to draw/define any region upon the fits image.
