suspend/hibernate stopped working with nvidia driver (dell 8600)

I just installed 6.10 on my dell inspiron 8600. every thing worked great including hibernate. I installed the nvidia driver with automatix2 and now it crashes when I try to take it off hibernate. I can uninstall the nvidia driver and it will work again. I really need to use the nvidia driver so I would like all this to work.
