Include aic7xxx module for install kernel

Asked by D.Springer

There is no aic7xxx or aic7xxx_old (Adaptec scsi card) module available in the install kernels for last several releases. Makes it very difficult to install/upgrade system since drives will not be detected. Is there a reason for this?

Are you sure there isn't an Adaptect modules in the install kernel, the install kernel should be the same as the running one.

I've installed to scsi disks on a few systems.

The ones I mentioned are not included in the kernel install. I'm sorry, but I should have mentioned that I'm referring to SPARC server builds. I believe the module was broken for some kernel versions (It is broken in Debain Etch -2.6.18) and maybe that was why it wasn't included, but I believe it is fixed as of 2.6.23, but wasn't included in hardy.

ahhh yes, the adaptec card was well borked in a few kernels, I've had problems with that myself on sparc.

I can try the 2.6.23/24 kernel on sparc for you in a development build (not ubuntu) to verify how it's working, that may give us the answer.

just an update, I did a .24 build and still had issues with my adaptec card on sparc.

Perhaps thats a reason it's still not in the ubuntu cd.

Can you help with this problem?
