display gone after installing nvidia-settings

I wanted to use a dual monitor on my dell 5150 laptop. I install the nvidia-settings using the Adept-manager in kubuntu 7.10. Doing this some package which i don't remember exactly was removed.
After rebooting my laptop has no display. I can log in but I'm not able to use the graphics mode.
Can someone help with the name of the package I have to install.

you need to install nvidia-glx-new - "nvidia settings" is provided in that package.
