java in 8.04

Asked by Peter

After installing sun-java5-plugin in 8.04 it worked well.

I then noticed in the help file Ubuntu restricted extras
which I installed to get flash working. It replaced java with icedtea and java did not work. I uninstalled icedtea and reinstalled java with sun-java5-plugin and everything is working nicely. This may help someone in a similar position. It could be a bug in icedtea.
Thanks.

IcedTea is a project to make open source java (or something like that). It's not a 100% Java clone yet, thus some compatibility problems and bugs.

Can you help with this problem?
