Asked by smascol1

Boot a live CD and get your data off and reformat. The kernel seems to have been messed with. Did you recently install any programs?

I also recommend next time you have your /home on a separate partition. That way no matter what linux distro you use or how many times you reformat, all your settings and files will remain the same.
