Can't load AVG Antivirus or PC Tools Firewall.

I can't load AVG antivirus or PC TOOLS firewall. Computer is home made AMD 64 x2. Everything else works great.

I'M RUNNING UBUNTU 8.04 ON AN AMD-64X2 MACHINE. WHEN I TRY TO LOAD IT I GET AN ERROR MESSAGE " WRONG FORMAT"

Probably you're using an executable. Please note that Ubuntu doesn't work with Windows Executables (.exe) .
Although, you can install Wine ( a executable runner ) from the Add/Remove Applications.
Wine doesn't work with all types of executables, only the least complex.
Also, I sugest you to install ClamAV using the same ("Add/R...") menu entry.
In my opinion, Linux is so secure that probably you won't need an antivirus.

P.S.: Most of the downloads in the Internet are Windows-only. I recommend you to use Applications-> Add/Remove Applications or, if you need something more technical, use the Synaptic Package Manager(System->Administration->Synaptic...) , which is also an application installer.

Thank You. If ubuntu 8.04 is secure enough, I would rather NOT have an antivirus or a firewall. Thank you again.
