Squid Version in Dapper 6.06 LTS

Asked by Mark Barlow

I am having some problems with http/1.1 Chunked-encoding sites using Squid 2.5-12. The guys squid mailing list advise upgrading to 2.6 stable, though I am slightly reluctant to do this at the moment as it would mess up the updates for Squid from the repository. Are there any known timescales for upgrading the repository version to 2.6?

Many thanks.

A released (stable) version of Ubuntu will usually only be provided with bug fixes and security updates. New versions of packages with new features are only included in new versions of ubuntu.

It does not seem that an update is planned for Squid in Dapper, see here:
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+milestone/dapper-updates

If the problems you mentioned could be classified as a bug you could submit a bug report and in this way an update could be triggered. Give it a try!

Or take the plunge and update to 8.04 which has squid 2.6.18 included.

Henning
