cannot get to ununtu desktop

Asked by fboxall

I installed Ubuntu from CD and I was able to get to the Ubuntu desktop. However the next time I turned on computer and chose Ubuntu, I got the Ubuntu logo and then a commnad screen that said
"Busybox v1.1.3 .... other stuff
Enter "help" for a list of built in commands
(initramfs)
I can't get past this screen. Please help.
My OS is Windows XP Pro with 500mb memory and 80gb harddrive

What do you mean by "Installed Ubuntu from CD". Did you boot on the CD and install Ubuntu, or did you Install it from inside windows (using "Wubi") ?

Kind of a late reply but maybe you can provide the last few lines that are displayed before you got to the terminal.
There should be some error message or some indication of what's going on.

there was no error message. last line was enter "help" to get list of commands. I did that but none of the commands seemed applicable. I went to control panel under windows. Ubuntu was listed. When I clicked on it I got something like "Wibu is already installed. Do you want to uninstall it" Unless you tell me not to, I plan on uninstalling from contol panel and then reinstalling from CD or from within windows. Your comment please?
