Installation of Ubuntu 6.10 Server freezes

Asked by golions

I have a PC with an intel celeron 300 mhz processor and 128 MB of ram. I am trying to install Ubuntu 6.10 Server edition. The install freezes right after the box titled:
"Detecting hardware to find CD-ROM drives"
reaches 100%. I think this may be a hardware problem. Does any one have some insight into this.

I was able to fix this problem using the ide-nodma install option.
