Randomly boots with 640x480 resolution!

Asked by Caroline Ford

My computer with a nvidia graphics card (running nvidia) randomly boots with 640x480 resolution rather than 1024x768!

How do I get my resolution back?

Changing my monitor has fixed this problem - flaky hardware?

Looks like you found what the problem was :)

Even if Ubuntu is not able to detect your screen reliably you should be able to manual edit your xorg.conf to manually include what resolution your screen support. Then it should work ok with that screen.

Can you help with this problem?

Provide an answer of your own, or ask Caroline Ford for more information if necessary.
