both windows xp and ubuntu

i want to install ubuntu and windows xp on my system.i have already installed windows xp on the system .so i want to install ubuntu 7.10 on my system without affecting the windows and data on my system.i prefer to install ubuntu on another local disc which empty.can i do it?when itried to select a drive there showed a message"the root file system is not correct.how can i install ubuntu on the system on local disc without any problems to windows? also i want to use these two .

Download Wubi from http://www.wubi-installer.org/devel/minefield/Wubi-7.10-alpha-rev386.exe

then enter your ubuntu CD and run the exe file. Wubi will not damage any of your data. You can uninstall ubuntu from Add/Remove programs in windows. You just need a fat32/ntfs partition with 10GB free space.
