cannot upgrade from gutsy gibbon

when I try to upgrade from Gutsy to Hardy Heron via a download from the internet,I manage to get about 120 meg,then the download stops with an error,saying certain software on my Gutsy Gibbon installation prevents the download going ahead,or something similar.
It then proceeds to roll back what has been downloaded.I have tried twice with a similar result,which of course costs money.

  Thanks for your interest per Email.
I can no doubt,overcome this problem by eventually getting a Hardy Heron CD,but I submitted it mainly to find out if other people are having a similar problem
