WIRELESS NOT WORKING

I AM NOT ABLE TO ACCESS INTERNET THRU WIRELESS SERVICE. IT WORKS ON 7.10 AFTER SOME MODIFICATIONS AS PER HELP PROVIDED, BUT WHEN I UPGRADED IT TO 8.04 IT FAILS TO EVEN BLINK.

1. Provide the output of 'lspci'
2. Provide the wireless card brand and model you are using

Go to System > Administration > Hardware Drivers, and tell me if anything appears there.

Try next (for me works) :

sudo modprobe -r iwl3945
sudo modprobe iwl3945

create a file named iwl3945 in /etc/modprobe.d/
in the file type the following and save:

alias wlan0 iwl3945
options iwl3945 disable_hw_scan=1

sudo ifconfig wlan0 up

reboot

i am not able to save file message : " cannot save file , you dont have necessary permission to save this file"

Could not save the file /etc/modprobe.d/iwl3945.
You do not have the necessary permissions to save the file. Please, check that you typed the location correctly and try again.

try adding sudo to the beginning of the input.

the file has been created but not in the MODPROBE.D folder as i m not the owner n dont have permission to modify the folder. i tired to add SUDO before the input but no luck.
i also tired to move the file n gave the same error. please suggest

sudo nano /etc/modprobe.d/iwl3945
