Ubuntu 8.04 LTS Desktop Edition Live CD

Asked by cvconnect

I have just received my "Ubuntu 8.04 LTS Desktop Edition" CD.

Live CD doesn't work under "ATI Radeon 9200 PRO Graphics Card".

System Configuration:
ASROCK P4I45Gx_PE i845G Chipset Motherboard BIOS P3.00
Intel Pentium 4 CPU 1.80GHz

Although I have not tried the full installation, I am putting-up this question to get some more info on this.

Is there any command line option that I can put while using the LIVE CD? (like vga=xxx)

You should prolly try the alternate install disc, Some gfx cards just dont behave as expected in the live enviornment.

I do have the same problem. I have an Acer 5710G with ATI Radeon 2300HD. If I try with live CD of Ubuntu 8.04 after it boots form the CD, it goes blank. If I press the power button after some time, it just end the whole process and prompts for a shutdown.

However, during the installation procedure, I tried in safe graphics mode, this worked and I was able to go to the live desktop from which I could install Ubuntu 8.01.

Can you help with this problem?
