Support for HDTV 1360x768 LCD screens

Asked by willisoften

I needed to buy a new TV and because of space considerations use it as a computer monitor.
best resolution is 1360x768. I can get this resolution by editing xorg.conf manually.
1. Any attempt to use dpkg-reconfigure on xserver will lead to resolution being reset to 1024x768 which is not bad but is a little distorted.
2. Sub-pixel hinting for LCD screens isn't as effective as at 1024x768.
3. Very minor issue - Some icons are distorted and fuzzy

As this resolution is becoming more or less standard for LCD 16:9 televisons - increasingly being used as computer displays as well as TV's I think they should be better supported out of the box.
