ubuntu 6.10

Asked by weber

Hi!

I have ubuntu 6.10 installed on my server. As U know 6.10 is no longer officially supported. There is a lot of software on it, so i'm afraid it's a risk of having many problems after upgrade.
But is it's security supported from backports or other repositaries ?

6.10 is not security supported at all anymore and you won't recieve securty updates via backports or any other repositories. if you want to keep a secure system its reccomended you install the latest LTS release (8.04), if you had 6.04 (the previous LTS release) you could directly upgrade to 8.04, but in your situation you can either upgrade slowly via each release (6.10 -> 7.04 -> 7.10 -> 8.04) or just do a new install stright to 8.04.
