Nautilus drag n drop from USB changes filedate

In Ubuntu 8.04 drag-n-drop copying from another device, such as USB, changes the file date and time to the date and time of the copy. It doesn't preserve the date and time. This worked fine in Gutsy Gibbon. Can I fix this?
