Packages from Medibuntu not listed in Installation Programm

Asked by hermaf

I installed the repository of Medibuntu accoring to the instructions at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Medibuntu

Actually this worked fine and the repository is added (and activated) under System->Administration->Software Properties in the tab Third Party Software:

[checkbox active] http://packages.medibuntu.org/ hardy free non-free

However, when I want to install tools like Skype or GoogleEarth that is part of the Medibuntu Repository, I cannot find the applications in the Package Manager (Applications->Add/Remove...) - yes I tried all menu options where to search for software ...

I also found https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Repositories/Ubuntu where it is shown to hit "Preferences" in the Package Manager to add repositories. However there is no "Preferences" button for me.

System: Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy

Any ideas?

Thanks
Felix

Ineterestingly the packages are all found with Synaptics but not with the Packet Manager that I can select via Applications->Add/Remove...

Hermaf,
Can you elaborate on
"Ineterestingly the packages are all found with Synaptics but not with the Packet Manager that I can select via Applications->Add/Remove..."

Where can you see them and where you can't.

Thank you

In Synaptics: I can search, find and install the packages from Medibuntu

In Packet Manager launched via Applications->Add/Remove... (=gnome-app-install): I cannot find any packages from Medibuntu

Hermaf,
Applications -> Add/Remove -> Show -> All Available Applications instead of Supported Applications

This is not yet implemented for gnome-app-install and adept_installer has can be seen in medibuntu's launchpad page:

https://launchpad.net/medibuntu

A blueprint has been created:

https://blueprints.launchpad.net/medibuntu/+spec/app-install-data-medibuntu
