Cannot install xubuntu on win98 system. I have downloaded the file from the website, but cannot execute the file. Help please.

Asked by Tracy

The file will not execute. The system tries to open it but cannot find the correct file on system to open with.when I try to open the xuubuntu 6.10 file, Now it lauches a box saying. "Incorrct comman line parameters. Windows installer V.1.20.1827.0. Portions of this software are based in part on the work of the independent JPEG Group." Now I can't execute the program as I do not get a box to choose from. It is stuck on this selection. Help please.

Why don't you consider booting from the Ubuntu install CD-ROM?

Proceeding so will boot a 'live Ubuntu' system, from where you will be able to resize (if needed) your hard(s) drive(s) and install Ubuntu, next to your W98 install if always needed.

Cheers,

Hello,

What was the file name that you downloaded? Also, you say that it is a Win98 system, what is the processor model and speed and how much ram does the system have?

Best Regards,

Williamts99

You may want to check out the alternative methods for installing without using a CD, though they are much more advanced. It might be easier to borrow a CD drive for the install.

Look under the 'Advanced' section...
