after installing some applications in my ubuntu 8.04 using add/remove window my system does not boot ubuntu 8.04 again and the screen shows busybox..etc and request me to type' help' for commands.what shall I do?

I have installed ubuntu 8.04 . After installing some applications using add/remove window and try to boot ubuntu the screen shows certian messages 'busybox...etc and asks me to type 'help' for commands.Since I am a beginner I dont know How to solve this issue.
