installing ubuntu on amd 64 X 2

Asked by prado

Hi
I want to install ubuntu 8.04 on a AMD 64 X2 with a Jetway AM2 motherboard. The installation hangs immediately after the reboot. I have also attempted the boot noapic noapic nolacpi nosmp. This does not help. Is there any other advice?

Regards
Prado

Try the alternate installer, which is a text-base installer. You may also be interested in Wubi,a Windows installer for Ubuntu: www.wubi-installer.com
