I have the same problem, but it says, "unable to read cd." Same thing with two different downloaded cd's from different sources, and same thing on two different computers. Hope someone out there can help us.

Don't know if this is the same problem, but I just resolved mine with the CDROM (I was upgrading from Gutsy to Hardy)

(a) I opened my case and moved my CDROM from SLAVE to MASTER (moving the HD from Master to Slave on that IDE cable - I also made sure the new Master was now at the end of the IDE cable)
(b) I abandoned my attempt at upgrading. I backed up my data to a portable drive, downloaded the new 8.04-1 install disk on another computer, and used that disk to install from scratch.

Good Luck.

Can you help with this problem?
