i have lost add/remove from system tool and its not in the alacarte menu either how do i get it back

 i did a full restore from a disc and the above can note be found
thanks for any help as i am new to ubuntu and would like to know what i did wrong

Hi,

It seems that you've opened 3 identical support requests, it would help lots if you closed all but one of them so all the replies are in the same place.

Hi,
 if you can't find it, you can create it again in the menu.
 I'm in Edgy so I don't have Alacarte but a far as I recall they look the same so here's what you can do:
 1- Right click in "Applications"
 2- Make a new entry.
 3- in the command for this new entry, code:
     gksudo gnome-app-install

 You should have it back.
 If it does not work, you need to check if it's still installed. For that:
 sudo aptitude update
 sudo aptitude install gnome-app-install
