Making Rhythmbox my default player and how do i add an album cover so it shows up in rhythmbox??

Asked by mrlopes

Hi...

I'm using Ubuntu 7.10

How do I make Rhytnmbox my default player so that when i click on an MP3 song file in my music folder it opens and plays in rhythmbox?

Also how do i add an album cover so it appears in rhythmbox player instead of a blank CD cover showing?

I've tried adding the .JPG into my music folder. That didn't work.
I've also tried going into the hidden folders:- GNOME2> Rhythmbox>Covers, and putting the .JPG in there.

Please help me

To make rhythmbox your default player you have to go to System-->Preferences-->Preferred Apps

To add album covers you have to enable the cover plugin in Rhythmbox an then Rhytmbox will fetch artwork from the internet. If you you have local image files, saved in the same directory as the album with the filename "cover, album, albumart, .folder or folder Rhythmbox will use them instead of looking up a cover on the internet. Covers embedded in songs are currently not supported.

hi...

The cover thing worked. Thanks.

Making Rhythmbox my defaul player didn't.
I done what you said but it was already on Rythmbox as my default player.

I double click on the file (MP3) and it starts playing in Totem movie player.

Anymore ideas??

Right-click on a mp3 file and choose Properties. Go the the "open with" tab and choose Rhythmbox from the list. From now on Rhythmbox mp3 files will open on Rhythmbox.
