[Hardy] Pulse Audio causes computer to slowly hang

Asked by Sidarth Dasari

I am having a problem where my applications start to hang. The first symptom is the inability to open any new applications and it slowly builds to a point where other apps start crashing one by one. I looked into my system log and I came up with this

May 4 15:49:11 lappy pulseaudio[6289]: sink-input.c: Failed to create sink input: too many inputs per sink.
May 4 15:49:45 lappy last message repeated 9 times
May 4 15:50:47 lappy last message repeated 9 times
May 4 15:51:26 lappy last message repeated 2 times
May 4 15:52:46 lappy last message repeated 6 times
May 4 15:53:47 lappy last message repeated 7 times
May 4 15:58:28 lappy pulseaudio[6289]: sink-input.c: Failed to create sink input: too many inputs per sink.
May 4 15:59:34 lappy last message repeated 13 times

Messages like this keep occurring before each crash.
Is this a bug, or is there a fix for this?
I can be working on my computer normally using OO or firefox and this starts to occur.

Assuming you still use the same distro version or still have PulseAudio installed I recommend you to have a look at [L].
