Losing my internet connection

Asked by Dave Stroud

When I go idle for a few minutes I loose my internet connection. I am running cable modem with a wired router. My network settings show that I am connected, but I am not, I have to disable network and then reset it and it works again until I go idle again. I sure there must be some setting to fix this problem. I new to Ubuntu and have no idea where to go. I am running dapper. Thanks for any help

This seems very strange. Installing network-manager (sudo apt-get install network-manager) fixes many network connection troubles, so I suggest you try that :)

AFAIK it is in Universe.
