Two iso files on one dvd

Asked by Ian Brownlie

Hello people it's me again. I have 2 iso files of roughly 1Gb each that I want to burn on a DVD. Is there any software that can enable me to put both files on 1 DVD. It seems a waste to use a 4.7 Gb DVD for 1 small file. I have tried "isomaster" and can't figure out how to use it. Remember guys, I'm an old age pensioner who's trying to learn this stuff, so please be very newbie with your answers.
     Please help. Ian.

Please tell, if you want make a backup of your iso images saving them to a single dvd i'm sure you can.
Simply create a data cd... and put the iso imges on it.
But if you want to make a booting dvd from that images the rule is: one iso image to one cd or dvd

Using Linux K3b or Brasero or is very easy to do but i don't know isomaster...

Can you use Ubuntu to create dvd...?

Hope this helps

Thanks Marcobra, what I want is to be able to watch the DVD, it just seemed such a waste to only have 1 Gb on a DVD.I was just hoping I could put more on 1 disc. I have burned DVD's before but I've always had the AVI's, it's easy to append the Avi's with Avidemux first and then convert to an ISO file. In this instance I don't have the AVI's. The ISOs are from another person.
    Thanks Ian

Hello Ian

There might be some program for doing that, I'm not sure, but I do know it's easy enough to mount your .iso's and copy out the files into another directory and then turn that directory into an .iso with the genisoimage command.

Hello Bhavani, I'm not sure what you mean by "mount" the isos, as I explained earlier I have an awful lot to learn about these things. Also, I'm unfamiliar with "genisoimage" command.

Install gmount-iso and this will allow you to use the iso files without burning them to a dvd. - The program emulates a dvd drive and so read the iso.

To install gmountiso using terminal

Launch Synaptic from menu: System->Administration->Synaptic package manager
From Synaptic menu: Settings->Repositories-> Tab Ubuntu software
enable "Community Maintained open source software (universe)"
Close Synaptic

Then open a Terminal from the menu Applications->Accessories->Terminal and type:

sudo aptitude update
sudo aptitude install gmountiso

give your user password when requested, you don't see nothing when you type it, then press enter.

Hope this helps
