first time install. Stops at point of entering keyboard type

Asked by Art Cederholm

I just received the 6.06 cd. Tried to install twice. First time it hung after I clicked on "Forward" for accepting the American English keyboard.

Second time it passed this point and gave me a pop-up to do printer install.
It hung from this point on.

System seemed to run okay from CD, although I couldn't seem to get to internet. Firefox would not come up when clicking on icon.

Hi,

Thanks for using (or at least trying to) run Ubuntu.

This seems like a bug with the installer rather than something that might be able to be solved in a support request.

This page helps filing bug: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs

and when you do, it would help lots if you attached these files: /var/log/installer/syslog, /var/log/syslog, and /var/log/partman

(There's some help for attaching these files at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingUbiquity/AttachingLogs)

Cheers,
  Matt
