You can install ubuntu in a dual-boot configuration that will leave windows alone. With the latest release, you can:
* Install ubuntu as a file within your windows installation
* Install ubuntu on a seperate drive
* or install ubuntu on a different partition on an existing drive (resizing the windows partition)

Simply put the ubuntu CD into your drive, reboot, and double-click the install icon once it boots to the CD.
