Another quick question

Asked by aznmhc

Let's say I was dual booting Ubuntu Hardy Heron and Windows Vista. If I get a virus in windows vista, would it affect my Ubuntu?

Also, is there a way to adjust the brightness for laptops? Never seems to work for me with the Function Keys.

No, a virus in Vista should not affect Ubuntu. Not only is it not possible for .exe files to be run in Ubuntu, but Ubuntu is built entirely on a different partition. They connect in no way. I am able to adjust brightness on my laptop simply by using the function keys. You can do this manually by going to System > Preferences > Power Management. Adjust the bar across the change default brightness. This works separately for both battery power, and plugged in.

Can you help with this problem?
