Ubuntu 16.04 sound menu doesn't allow to select stereo 2.0 sound

I have a fresh install of Ubuntu 16.04. Previously in Ubuntu 14.04 sound worked perfectly in the same hardware. Sound card is Asus Xonar DS. The problem is that it's not possible to select stereo output, only 4.0, 5.1 and 7.1 output. As I'm using stereo speakers when playing audio from a multichannel source like a 7.1 movie I don't hear part of the sound as I only can hear front-left and front-right channels. In sound menu there is a new "Headphones" output for the same sound card and the same jack that front speakers with low-quality stereo sound. It looks that there is a bug detecting a headphones output and it overrides analog stereo output so it's not possible to select it. The motherboard sound card is disabled in BIOS.
