Problems Installing KTorrent

Extremely new to Linux, to say the least. I recently began trying to install KTorrent on my system and have come up with the following:

brett@GenghisKahn:~$ cd Desktop
brett@GenghisKahn:~/Desktop$ cd ktorrent-3.1beta1
brett@GenghisKahn:~/Desktop/ktorrent-3.1beta1$ cd build
brett@GenghisKahn:~/Desktop/ktorrent-3.1beta1/build$ cmake -dcmake_install_prefix=/path/to/prefix/of/kde4/installation ..
-- Check for working CXX compiler: CMAKE_CXX_COMPILER-NOTFOUND
CMake Error: your CXX compiler: "CMAKE_CXX_COMPILER-NOTFOUND" was not found. Please set CMAKE_CXX_COMPILER to a valid compiler path or name.
CMake Error: Internal CMake error, TryCompile configure of cmake failed
-- Check for working CXX compiler: CMAKE_CXX_COMPILER-NOTFOUND -- broken
CMake Error: The C++ compiler "CMAKE_CXX_COMPILER-NOTFOUND" is not able to compile a simple test program.
It fails with the following output:

CMake will not be able to correctly generate this project.
CMake Error: your CXX compiler: "CMAKE_CXX_COMPILER-NOTFOUND" was not found. Please set CMAKE_CXX_COMPILER to a valid compiler path or name.

Don't really know where to go from here. Any help would be greatly appreciated... but please, I really haven't the slightest clue as to what I am doing so please include step-by-steps.
