8.04 Install Hung

Asked by gbjbasdw

Ok - hands up I am a complete newbie with Linux.

I have just tried to install 8.04 on a blank hard disk attached to my old Gateway PC.

All was going well until it got to 96% on the installation bar when it was trying to "remove unused packages" ( or something similar) It seemed to just hang at this point. I waited about 30 minutes to give it a chance but it seemed to be well and truly stuck.

Any thoughts ? Should I have waited even longer ? Does anyone know what it was trying to do at this point ?

Thanks

Formatted the disk again this morning and tried the install again.

This time it worked ok.

I have no idea why it stalled yeaterday but there you go !
