Rtl8139 NIC not working after dual-boot load of Hardy Heron.

I installed Hardy Heron 8.04 as a dual-boot with Windows XP Home. Network card (Realtek RTL8139/810x) is not functioning in Hardy, but works ok in Windoze...I'm quite new to Linux and would appreciate as concise an answer as I can get (I don't want to screw anything up). Thanks.
