ndiswrapper assistance

Asked by Ezovercomings

I have wireless internet but my "chipset in the v4 card is not supported in Linux at all there are No drivers" (douglas_smith)
I was told to try to get it working with ndiswrapper by wedging the windows driver into linux... and so far I have downloaded the ndiswrapper to my Windows XP and I dont know where to go from here.

His usb asaptor is a Linksys wusb54gs.
Reference Question # 30804
His lsusb from the other thread as follows:

"Ezovercomings said 3 hours ago:

since my adapter is connected to my USB I typed in the Isusb in the terminal like I was told and this came up

ezovercomings@ubuntu:~$ lsusb
Bus 002 Device 002: ID 058f:9360 Alcor Micro Corp.
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 001 Device 002: ID 13b1:0014 Linksys
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 0000:0000"

From what I am finding online, there seems to be an issue with the v4 card under linux.
Maybe I'm missing the magic thread for this one, or that info is correct. At any rate, he needs a clear walkthrough for the v4 or ndiswrapper help.
Again, I had NO LUCK finding anything for his chipset, and I like to think my google kung-fu is strong. =)
Been awhile since I mucked around with ndiswrapper, so I'm going to step aside on this one.

Good Luck
DS

Here's a thread I found, but you'll have to take your time and follow the instructions to a tee.
Be patient going through this one...

The only way to eat an elephant is one bite at a time.

Problem is, we have to find the right elephant first...

How's buying a compatible adapter sounding about now?

how much would that cost and is that guaranteed that it will work?

I use a Netgear WG111 version 2 USB adapter on one of my machines and it works perfectly.
I think all I had to do was enable the Restricted driver for it, if even that.
I paid about $35 US for the thing and it's been rock-solid.

You don't show where you live in your Launchpad profile, but here in the US we just return stuff that doesn't work to the retailer.

Can it be connected to the linksys wireless router on the main computer in the house as well?

Sure. It will work in G mode.
Simple install. Just enable the restricted driver.

You won't have to install anything from the discs that come with the adapter.
You won't need to fool with ndiswrapper, either.

Can you help with this problem?
