pulse audio and skype

i use 8.04 intel pentium d 31 bit
skype call does not initiate but shows audio prolems

please help

If Skype doesn't start, it would be better you run it from Terminal and paste here any error messages you get.

If it is able to start, though, be sure that there is no other program (like Flash/Firefox, or Rhytmbox) using the sound output. This is a current problem using skype in current Ubuntu version, which should be fixed in the future.
