problem logging in :(

Asked by Perkele

I just installed Hardy Heron via disc. I didn't have previous versions of linux installed, if that will make any difference.

When I try to log into hardy, it reboots ubuntu. It asks for my username and password, looks like it's starting, then goes back to the enter username screen. But, it has my username displayed in the bottom right corner. What's going on and how do I fix?

I also have the pleasure to use Hardy.

My sister says she has experienced the same thing of the name. She recommends to write your username and then password taking care of capitalization. As she has no Launchpad account, I am writing in her name.

I always take care of capitalization. It didn't say login insuccessful like when I just type in giberish.. It logs in, then logs out so to say.

I just tried it. It brought up a few lines of sudo commands. Seemed correct, so I went back. Login screen appeared, and same problem still.

I think, that you have problem with GNOME (or whatever you're using).
Try to change session type (when it ask about user name, choose Options->Choose session type) to other.
Also you can reinstall/reconfigure your graphic environment.

But remember I can be mistaken.

Can you help with this problem?
