How do I find a certain Ubuntu package to get it's translation to help translating it?

Asked by schnollk

Hi there.

Please help me to help others:

As long as bug #44 (making translations searchable) is still not resolved I would like to at least get hold of a package's tranlations _fairly_ quickly. But I cannot find a way to it.

I managed to find the relevant Ubuntu package name via

1. getting the UI's binary file name, e.g. via menu item right-click -> add launcher -> open it's properties -> there's the binary's name
2. do dpkg -s 'file-name-pattern'

But what do I do next to find the actual translation in launchpad.net? If I go to translations -> Ubuntu 8.04 -> select language I get a list of ~1400 packages on don't-know-how-many-single-pages with no way to filter them (as far as I can gather).

I really would like to help translating Ubuntu as my contribution to so much great work and help spread the spirit even more. Thanks in advance.

Cheers.

I couldn't find a way to filter them, but you can sort them if you have javascript enabled by clicking the column headers.

Hi,

I have created this view for Jaunty:

http://l10n.ubuntu.tla.ro/jaunty-l10n-status/ro.html

I'm still working on it, and will also make available a daily updated version for "de".

Can you help with this problem?
