Installing Ubuntu 8.04 on "Raw" diskspace or "Unallocated" space?...

Asked by beadmaster

Hi, i am new to linux etc and decided to dualboot Ubuntu 8.04 with vista. During a fresh vista allocation i have made it so that leave me with 40gb of unallocted space for me to install ubuntu on.

my problem is this, the 40gb isnt "Unallocated space" its is "Raw" formatted? does this matter? will Ubuntu reformat it anyway during the liveCD installation? or am i better deleting the RAW partion to create "unallocated" space and then install ubuntu from there?

thanks very much guys

Tom

Hi Tom,
Ubuntu 8.04 has a built-in partitioner, so this should not be a problem. I hope that clears things up!
