upgrade to 8.01 won't work

Asked by Ian Brownlie

I downloaded the hardy 8.01 Alternate upgrade iso on to a cd in ubuntu 7.1. The computer won't boot from the disc, nor the command line. I surfed the net and got the command gksu "su /cdrom/cdromupgrade". Nothing, There has to be a way, if I try to use the update manager it fails every time. Why is everything I do in ubuntu such a hassle, is it me?

Thanks Vojtech, I did as you suggested and did an integrity check. Guess what. the disc was corrupted. I have since downloaded another iso which worked perfectly.
      Thanks again, Ian
