Wireless Card Problems

Asked by DaveSutton

Hey all,

I have just installed the new version of Ubuntu on to a mates laptop, it did have Vista on but that was pants, so I said why not go with this OS. Would like to say this is ace and will prob convert my desktop to Ubuntu some time soon.
Right on to the asking for help.

Every thing works fine with the exception of the wireless connection, the whole system soon freezes when the wireless is in use, I assume I may need to upgrade the driver or something? The system works fine off a wired connection so thats why I know it should be the wireless card that is causing the prob. Also can't tell you what wireless card it is as I don't know where to look for this info.

Thanks for any info that can be given in relation to the wireless card

Many wireless card drivers cannot be legally installed with ubuntu. Go to Administration > Hardware Drivers. If your wireless card is shown, there should be available firmware which can be directly downloaded.

Post details on your results.

Can you help with this problem?
