Ubuntu 8.04 on Fujitsu Lifebook P5010 not suspending

Asked by Jack Tigre

Hi,

I have a Fujitsu Lifebook P5010 running Ubuntu 8.04 with all patches as of now.

Everything runs great but the power management.

When I close the notebook lid (with our without the AC), the power is still on and when I open it, the screen is blank and nothing happens after that (there is no disk activity). I have to power cycle the notebook to recover my system.

Any clues? My BIOS is the default from factory.

Rafael

This is an extremely common error, experienced by many Ubuntu laptop users, including myself. Perhaps this issue will be fixed in future releases, but for now you just have to live without being able to hibernate/suspend.

Can you help with this problem?
